CALL FOR PAPERS ONLINE CONFERENCE “Good Governance and Anti-corruption in International Trade and Investment Laws” Tuesday and Wednesday, 23-24 August 2022 Dublin Time (GMT+11): 7.30am - 11.30pm New Delhi time (GMT+5:30): 13.00pm – 17.00pm Hanoi Time (GMT+7): 14.30pm - 18.30pm Dear Friend/Colleague, International trade and international investment agreements typically contain provisions requiring the parties to comply with good governance principles, such as procedural fairness and transparency, which are increasingly the subject of disputes before international tribunals.[1] Meanwhile the related issue of anti-corruption is touching on a wide variety of areas in international economic law including money laundering, government transparency, organized crime, etc. However, there are some unclear questions such as: When and how are international trade and international investment laws used as a legal tool to promote good governance and anti-corruption? What is the scope of impact and how effective is international law in this regard? What is the trend of good governance and anti-corruption obligations in international law? In that context, an online conference titled “Good Governance and Anti-corruption in International Trade and Investment Laws” will be co-hosted on Tuesday and Wednesday, 23-24 August 2022 by: · School of Law, the University College Cork (Ireland) · Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University (India) · School of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (Vietnam) · Faculty of Law, National Economics University (Vietnam) · Faculty of Law, Foreign Trade University (Vietnam) The themes of the online conference will include: · The role, scope and impact of international commercial law in promoting good governance and preventing and combating corruption (global, regional and national levels). · The role, scope and impact of international investment law in promoting good governance and preventing and combating corruption (global, regional and national levels). · Principles of transparency and corruption control in international trade and investment law. · Principles of transparency and corruption control in foreign investor and state disputes (ISDS) in countries. · Regulations on anti-corruption in new generation FTAs and issues raised with other countries. · Commitments on controlling corruption in international investment agreements (IIAs) of countries. · Anti-corruption from the perspective of business compliance in countries. · Acceptance and implementation of the WTO's principles of predictability and transparency in foreign investment legislation in countries. · Ensure transparency and accountability of transnational companies in countries. · The issue of transfer pricing of transnational companies and foreign investment management capacity in countries. · Reforming international trade and investment laws in countries in accordance with the principles of good governance and anti-corruption in international trade and investment law. · Reforming the state system of countries in accordance with the principles of good governance and anti-corruption in trade and investment laws. We are inviting scholars and practitioners working in this area to submit papers that would fit within the broad themes of the conference. The conference proceedings book will not be published for commercial purposes.
